Conditional Type One
We use the first conditional:
1. to talk about possible future events that depend on one another :
Example:
If you eat too much chocolate, you will become fat.
The pattern of the sentence _or what we call the sentence structure is:
(Sub-clause) If Clause (Main Clause)
If + Present Simple Will+ Infinitive (what we call simple future)
2. to give advice, orders, or suggestions:
Example:
If you travel by plane, remember to drink a lot of water.
The pattern of the sentence is:
(Sub-clause) If clause (Main Clause)
If + Present Simple Imperative
NOTE:
It will not affect the meaning of the sentence if we change the order of (the main) clause and the (if clause).
